About Me

I am an aspiring food writer with an obvious appetite for cheese; I plan on using this blog to share my journey of taking my title as the Cheese Queen, by tasting new cheeses and recipes that rely on cheese.

Now for a bit of background: After graduating from the University of Maryland with a journalism degree, I found myself living in what some call (ok, what I call) the culinary capital of the world, or at the very least, the US: New York City. Job searching for two straight years had the potential of becoming pretty depressing, but it just made me want to cook– a lot. Like going from not wanting to touch a piece of raw meat to wandering the green markets for hours on end. I took my new-found free time and attended the French Culinary Institute in NYC. While I was at FCI, I cooked. A lot. And cut/burned myself. A lot. But aside from the countless bandaids and home burn remedies, I also interned in the editorial department of Saveur Magazine and as a line cook at the West Village location of the Meatball Shop. I really enjoyed both of those internships, but it was time for me to learn a whole new way of cooking. After I finished culinary school, I returned to Saveur magazine in the test kitchen, where I tested out all of the recipes that go into the magazine.

Then I made my way to the Food Network where I interned in the purchasing department for Iron Chef America. I just completed my internship in the editorial department at the Food Network and am currently looking for the next big thing, career-wise. In my spare time I’m the Cheese Queen and I hope you enjoy the food that I enjoy making/tasting/smelling.

I drool over all of the cheese and cheese dishes but alas my arteries scream. Hope to see you at the pool this summer
